A closer look at tokens and new stretch goals incoming!

Premium Token Sets

So that’s another stretch goal unlocked! This time for the status tokens. Many thanks again for your support in getting us this far! We promised you a closer look at the tokens, so here we go:

We’ve worked with Frozen Forge to get these for you and the quality is simply amazing! So far we have only created the Leshavult faction prototypes which you can see in these images but we will produce a set for all three factions and you can add them onto your pledge for £19 each. We are hoping that these will be available on our webstore some time after all Kickstarter pledges have been fulfilled at a retail price of £23/£24 so you can both get your hands on them first and save money in the process by adding them now.

New stretch goals

In fact, we were so impressed with the quality of these tokens that we decided for our next stretch to add something else... A set of three acrylic 50mm diameter ‘Wooded Patches’. Wooded Patch tokens are needed for troupes containing Herbert Growbottom, Loci the Nordic Shipwright, or Raegan, Leshavult Priestess; one model from each faction, who all feature in The Arising book, and who can all summon these tokens in-game. We had tried to see if we could fit this as a free stretch goal but the numbers just didn’t work sadly. However instead we are going to offer them at a crazy-good Kickstarter discount of just £6 per set, compared with a projected retail price of £12 per set, saving you an estimated 50%!

And finally, we have something really special...

For a little while we’ve been interested in exploring larger scale models exclusively for painters and collectors in addition to our 32mm scale range for gamers. The faun huntress Jayda is the star of the cover art for The Arising book and we thought what better way to commemorate the release of the book than by poking our toe into the world of larger scale miniatures with her now. Her sculpt is absolutely stunning and in many ways the amount of detail is wasted at 32mm (although she is still an incredible model and you can find her in the Hunting Horns troupe box) so we have decided that if this stretch goal is unlocked we will to create a special 75mm (1/24 scale) version of the mini that you can add to your pledge. I really hope this goal is unlocked as I for one cannot wait to paint her at this size!

If the stretch goal is reached you can add her for £34, to reflect the larger and collector-aspect of the model. And because we know this will be asked – In all honesty, we don’t know if this will be a one-off exclusive run at this stage. If this idea proves popular then we may bring her back along with some other character's from our range at larger scales one day (although if we did, you can guarantee it would be at a higher price point!).

Community resources

We just wanted to give a shout out to the incredible communities that have been so supportive throughout our journey and make such a fantastic and welcoming resource for new players to learn about the game and get advice.

First up we have the Moonstone Players Group on Facebook with over 1000 members and dozens of posts per day. We also have a Discord Server which is one of the friendliest and most knowledgable groups online and is a great place to arrange online demo's and games via our Tabletop Simulator Mod. Our final shout out goes to the Goblin Mischief tactics blog which just today published a tactica centred around our backers' choice, limited edition Kalista and is packed with superb articles from getting started to the highest levels of competitive strategy.

Backers' vote – we have a winner!

The limited edition alternate sculpt votes have been tallied and independently verified and we can now reveal the winner is <drum roll>...

It was a close vote and we’re so thrilled that all of the ideas struck a chord, even though there could only be one winner in the end. If you're interested, the final scores were: Kalista 80 / Swiggarty Swooty 61 / Gertrude 53 / The Beast 48 / Foxglove 48 / Quarrel 34. We'll try and get the alt. pose art worked up and shown to you all as quickly as possible, so watch this space!
 

New Stretch Goals

You asked for it, we listened, and today we are happy to announce three brand new stretch goals!

Scatter Terrain Packs

So, you’ve got the minis, the rules, the gizmo’s and widgets but oh no – what about terrain? Well we’ve got you covered – provided we hit this goal! In collaboration with Bad Squiddo games we've made plans to produce four terrain packs themed around different parts of the map of Tauber (the mythical land where Moonstone takes place).

But that's not all, oh no! We have two more stretch goals to reveal:

Why not flaunt your favourite faction's symbol with pride by sporting a Moonstone sticker on your miniatures' carry case (or wherever you want to stick it!)?

Do you ever forget what abilities characters have used or hanker after some energy tokens featuring your favourite faction’s symbol? We’ve hunted around for the best possible gaming tokens and are in the process of designing sets for each faction right now. Help us fund the costs and we’ll offer the token sets at a discount of at least £4 per set. With any luck we should have a physical prototype to show off later in the week.

A few of our veteran players have requested just the miniatures from the New Player Catch-Up pledge levels but with out the books, tokens and other items items which they already have. These have now been included in the lists of available add-ons as follows:

Bedtime stories – An update from the Goblin Chronicler

Good evening moonstone hunters,

Today’s update is dedicated to the narrative, fluff, stories, whatever your poison when you come to refer to it! I’m writing it today rather than Tom and wanted to introduce myself - I’m V.G. Thorne (although you may also see me as Suzie Johnston on Facebook or Discord) and I’m narrative lead for Goblin King Games. I had a chat with Dan on the Moonstone podcast (Mooncast), so go and have a listen if this isn’t quite enough for you!

I’ve spent the last couple of years working with Tom to create the narrative that you’ll get to read in the book. You’ll find a 14 chapter story spread throughout the book, as well as stories surrounding each of the scenarios, and bio mini-stories for each of the 52 characters that have been released since the very first book.

Story Scenarios

You’ll find stories and scenarios that revolve around rogue characters, the pirates, and Leshavult characters. We’ve made sure the gameplay is excellent and the stories will be interlaced into the main narrative, so everything will be connected!

Bios / Mini Stories

Stories, poems, monologues, conversations, a formal monkey-related complaint, and an autopsy report… All these grace the pages alongside the character stats and illustrations, giving you an insight into the characters that make up the wonderful world. We’ve shared a few through our Facebook page already, so keep your eyes peeled for more!

The Big Story

Book one had lots of individual stories that added to the flavour of the narrative. This time, there is one long story weaved through the pages. It’s been a joy to write and I’ve included some of the community’s favourite characters, including Eric, Grub, Gertrude, and Brunhilde, as well as introducing a few new ones. Did anyone wonder where Voth and his homunculus came from…?

Speaking of favourite characters, I was thrilled to see Kalista win your vote - she’s among my favourites and features in the overarching narrative a few times. That deer skull, where did it come from and what does it mean…? You’ll find out when you get the book in your hands!

Diana Enraged!

Good evening moonstone hunters,

Today wanted to take a closer look at...

Diana, Queen of the Fae was already a beautiful mini and we hope you agree that the Diana Enraged limited edition version is seriously striking. In the hands of one of our absolute favourite artists (the man, the myth!)  Sergio Calvo, she comes even more alive! Just have a look at the stunning job he’s done on this miniature. It would look amazing among any miniatures collection, and we're certain this will be a highly in-demand collector's piece in the future!

Without even taking her fearsome looks into account, Diana Enraged is something truly terrifying to face on the tabletop. In addition to a regular Diana, Queen of the Fae stat card, this miniature also comes with a special bonus stat card for use in one of the special story scenarios featured in The Arising book. Betrayed by her own kind, and set on revenge, she breaks all the rules and hires a troupe of giants, draining their considerable life essence to super-charge her magic. You can hear more about this special scenario in Episode 35 of Moonscast (as Moonstone podcast).

Despite her appearance, this miniature is actually remarkably simple to assemble; cast in just four pieces with very large contact points for glue. Check out this review (in German) on Brueckenkopf for more info.

Stretch goals

Well what can we say? Thank you again for smashing through yet more stretch goals!

The beautiful poster of the cover artwork was unlocked earlier today and will be free for all backers. Then, more excitingly, Voth and his Homunculus have also been unlocked! The illustration is available already and we’re working with our artist to create the minis, we’ll share more as we have it.

We’re now in a position to share more stretch goals with you… Tomorrow! We have loads more up our goblin-y sleeves to add on, but we don’t want to rush and there is a lot going on. Rest assured if you spare us your groats you’ll be rewarded, and we’ll share more with you tomorrow.

Limited Ed. Alternate Sculpt Unlocked – We Need Your Vote!

Good day Moonstone hunters,

And what a very good day indeed! In less than 24hrs we have cruised through four - yes FOUR stretch goals. That wasn't supposed to happen and has quite exceeded our wildest hopes! Let me thank you all once again for your fantastic support.

So, the biggest news of the day is that the Backers’ Choice Limited Edition Sculpt has been unlocked and we need your input to decide which miniature from our range will get the special treatment!

To vote, simply add a comment to this update. You can make a first and second choice but no more than that please. We will tally up the responses and announce the winner in our Tuesday update. With luck, we should have the finished artwork to show before the end of the campaign!

Gertrude, The Faerie Hunter
Famous for her bad-ass moves and high kicks, this alternate sculpt would be super dynamic and is sure to leave your Faerie foes cowering!

Foxglove

Foxglove’s ability to change their appearance is legendary and they love to explore a variety of looks. This alternate sculpt would express their femanine side and be oh so fabulous!

Kalista Leshavult Priestess

Ever wondered what Kalista’s Paroxysm ability looks like as she blasts all around her with devastating magic? This sculpt will depict just that moment.

The Beast

Uh oh, you went and made him angry didn't you? Engage full beast-mode!

Swiggarty Swooty

It’s fair to say that Goblin pirates enjoy a drink or two after a hard day’s pillaging and Winstone the Octopus is by no means an exception. In this sculpt our lovable cephalopod will be enjoying a tipple (or eight!).

Quarrel

Ever wondered how Quarrel manages to carry Moonstones and still fire his crossbow? He stuffs them down his trousers of course! This sculpt will have a comic twist as greedy Quarrel stretches his breaches to the limit.

In other news...

Glow in the Dark Dice

The glow in the dark Moonstone dice are now unlocked and included in the add-on options when you place or revise your pledge. They are limited to 100 sets total (max. 2 sets per customer). This is because they are hand made by a singular artisan and 100 sets is all that can be made before the scheduled shipping date. If you want to include a set with your pledge then we do recommend revisiting your pledge and adding them as soon as possible. If you're unsure how to do this then drop us a message so we can help.

Veteran Player Bundles

A few backers, who are existing players, have requested box set bundles similar to our ‘New Player’ pledge levels but without Starter Sets, Rulebooks or The Arising Core Pledge components. This is something we are more than happy to accommodate. We’ll have a think about how best to accomplish this as we're reluctant to add too many additional pledge levels which are very similar and could be confusing, but rest assured that the options will be made available in the pledge manager if not before.
